Samaritans Awareness Day

Samaritans Awareness Day

Here at the Daniel Barnett Art Foundation we like to support other charities and their awareness days…

Mental health issues can affect absolutely anyone, from all walks of life. They do not discriminate and people of all ages, genders, religions & social backgrounds can find life tough.

Remember to Talk!

It is vitally important for us all to talk about our feelings and accept help if we are struggling. Sometimes though, it can seem daunting to open up to those closest to us; we often fear their views and opinions. We may even worry about judgment or burdening others with our problems. That is why organisations like the Samaritans are so important.

The Samaritans offer a free telephone service which is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Anyone who is struggling to cope with life, feeling low or having suicidal thoughts can call and receive non-judgemental emotional support. The organisation also offers help via email and face to face meetings. Every year the Samaritans supports over five million people; this is largely thanks to the amazing volunteers who run the phone lines and give up their own time to support those in need.

24th July 2020 marks 24/7 Samaritans Awareness Day.

On this day Samaritans branches across the UK and Ireland will be holding local events to spread awareness about the services they offer in their local communities. Many areas are holding coffee mornings, bake sales and other events to raise awareness of their Talk to Us campaign.
