One-To-One Tuition for Oscar

One-To-One Tuition for Oscar

One-To-One Art Tuition

Back in 2018 Oscar had finished his treatment and was seeking some support/ art tuition to help with his transition back to school, we were approached by Oscar’s Social Worker to see if we could meet his requirements.
For Daniel Barnett Arts Foundation this was a new service, one that we have not previously offered, but with a portfolio of skilled and qualified artists at our fingertips we decided to jump at the opportunity to help Oscar.

DBAF Trustees carefully selected from our talented pool of artists.

We chose an established artist, one who is a highly qualified workshop facilitator known best for her awesome talent and calm person centered approach. Our chosen artist to provide one-to-one support for Oscar was Emma .

At the beginning of the sessions Oscar said that he enjoyed learning and that he wanted to develop his drawing skills. Emma could see he already had a talent for seeing an image and copying it well.

Oscar loved drawing and would show his work each session what he’d been drawing in his sketch book. From album covers to historical battle images.

Emma worked with Oscar and helped him concentrate on improving his drawing skills looking at perspective, proportions, and figurative drawing (normally aimed for children aged 14+).

Emma always brought other art based skills into the sessions to give Oscar a broad knowledge of using other techniques and materials.

His love for portrait drawing became apparent after loaning him a book that catalogues a portfolio of portrait prize award winners.

Oscars confident mark making and ability to establish his own style of drawing has been outstanding. We can’t wait to see him continue to flourish.

Oscar’s Mum gave a glowing review:

“My son has had many sessions with Emma. He’s developed his skills in drawing and learnt new skills in other art forms and crafts too. He’s always enjoyed the sessions and appreciated Emma’s supportive teaching style. Thank you Em.”

Oscar’s One-To-One sessions have now ended, and we are so grateful that we have been able to provide this invaluable service for him. We wish him all the best for his future and we hope the skills, experience and memories created during his tuition will be something he treasures forever.

Without your support fundraising and all the donations we receive throughout the Year none of this would be possible.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your continued support.
