August is National Wellness Month – a month when everyone is encouraged to focus on self care, managing their stress levels and developing healthy routines.
High levels of stress have been shown to have numerous negative impacts on the body and can affect many areas such as the immune system, the digestive system and the heart. So it’s vitally important that we learn to take good care of our mental and physical health, in order to protect our bodies and minds.
Why not try making some positive changes over the next month? Here are some simple ideas you could try:
Write a Journal
Write in a journal every night before bed. It can be really useful to give your mind time to offload and may help you to get a good nights sleep.
Try out some new healthy recipes that include lots of colourful fruits and veggies. There are so many ideas online.
Go for a walk – the gentle exercise, fresh air and sunshine will be great for your physical and mental wellbeing.
Reading strengthens the brain and is known to relieve stress. Reading in the evening instead of viewing screens alleviates depression and aids sleep.
Check out YouTube for some fantastic yoga classes for beginners. Yoga is a brilliant way of strengthening your body and giving you time to slow down and reset.
