On Sunday 4th December, our friends at the wonderful Hagglers Corner held a fantastically festive Christmas Market.
We were thrilled to be invited to attend as part of our 2017 Christmas Campaign fundraising drive. We are always made to feel very welcome at Hagglers, both staff and customers are so enthusiastic about the work that we do and so it was without hesitation that we jumped at the chance to attend.
A sheffield hot spot for live music, good food and local arts and crafts, events at Hagglers never disappoint and the Christmas Market was no exception. Despite the seasonally cold chill, the place was packed with people looking for unusual Christmas gifts and some warming grub. The spicy hot dogs were our personal fave and the mulled wine was exactly what we needed to keep us warm and rosy cheeked. Whilst browsing the stalls, partaking in some craft activities or sampling the delicious fayre, visitors and stallholders alike were treated to live music from some very talented local musicians which just added further to the Christmassy, chilled out mood.
The DBAF stall was set out like a santa’s grotto providing arts and crafts to the younger visitors offering them a chance to get out of the winter chill in our own little cabin. They were able to make Christmas cards, tree decorations and even try their hand at cross stitch with proceeds from the activities going towards our campaign. As well as the arts and crafts on offer, we had a tombola for the children with a bevvy of candy canes, puzzles and christmas toys to be won. We also offered visitors the chance to win a piece of beautiful artwork by our namesake, Daniel Barnett. Our art raffles are always popular and Naomi from Sheffield, held the lucky ticket on the day, “the picture is so special, I really appreciate it” she told us afterwards, we’re delighted you’re so happy with it Naomi, congratulations on your win.
We raised money for our campaign, met some fantastic people, spread the word about our charity and all really enjoyed the day, thank you so much to the guys at Hagglers, we can’t wait for the next event!
