As the world around us changes and the leaves begin to fall, the beautiful autumnal colours conjour warming thoughts of stews and soups, chunky warm jumpers, log fires and hot chocolate. It’s an exciting time for children with Halloween fancy dress escapades, mountains of leaves to kick in wellington boots, conkers, toffee apples, bonfires and fireworks and the promise of Christmas just around the corner.
It’s a wonderful time to engage with children through art. Our arts and crafts workshops help to materialise their excitement into tangible hand made creations, offering them the opportunity of expression and in the process helping to concentrate a little of their time on happy events, giving them a much needed break from their present hardships.
We are very pleased to announce that our recruitment drive was successful and we have grown our creative team considerably. Once all the necessary checks and security clearances have been been finalised, our new artists will be able to share their skills and creativity through a varied range of workshops using different materials and mediums. We can’t wait to show you some of the results!
In the last couple of weeks we’ve had some wonderful fundraising events including a raffle at the Hagglers Corner crafts fair and our Psychic night at The Courtyard in Bawtry. Thank you to everyone involved, both events were fantastic and much enjoyed by all.
The Come Dine With Me Event is ongoing until the 9th October, if you haven’t held a dinner party yet, there’s still time. Just invite some friends round for some home cooked grub, have a whale of a time and donate the money you would of spent on a night out to DBAF instead. You can do this through our ‘Donate’ page on the website.
We are also looking for runners for the 2018 London Marathon, please spread the word and follow this link to confirm your interest:-
As always, we welcome your feedback, comments and contributions. Feel free to share and like posts off of our social media and if you’d like to fundraise for us, get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
