Every year we have an annual fundraising event in May called Cake Day. This is a fun event for all the family, where family and friends of the charity come together to remember Daniel and have a full day of fund raising and making the day worthwhile. It is a special time of remembrance and reflection where people share their stories and memories of Daniel and the future plans for the charity. People are extremely supportive and give up their time organising the baking, donating raffle prizes, offering their skills for the day, arranging stalls and games for people to join in and raising funds for the Charity. It is very informal atmosphere where people drop in for a drink and cake and make a donation to the charity.
This year the event took place on Sunday 15th May 11.30-4.30pm and was hosted in Rotherham, where there was Art Workshops delivered by Lizzie Marshall, our creative art tutor. Children and families were able to design their own mobile based on Daniel’s painting of the bird which is the charity’s logo. The creative workshops are the focus of some of our marketing materials so everyone was smiling for the camera.
There was also a Grand Raffle, which gave people a chance to have their tea leaves read by Joanne Huckett, Spiritual Medium, as well as a health and healing session with Ricky Chuck and a variety of stalls and games.
The Daniel Barnett Arts Foundation would like to offer thanks to the Green Group for their kind sponsorship of the 2016 cake day.
