Community spirit

The last couple of weeks have been an exciting and busy time for the team at DBAF.

Our recruitment drive for new artists to lead our workshops has been fruitful and we now have some very welcome and wonderful new members in our creative team. Our artists really are the lifeblood of what we do, without them we wouldn’t be able to run the workshops that are so beneficial to poorly children and young adults across our region. All of our fundraising efforts are driven purely towards funding as many workshops as possible. With an expanding creative team and continued support and generosity from you guys, we are continuing to achieve and surpass our aims for this year. We can’t wait to show you some of the art work from upcoming workshops!

Alongside our recruitment drive we have been having a lot of fun with fundraising. Our founder and chair person Diane along with committee member Sue were¬† recently invited to Clifton Community School in Rotherham where the student council had arranged a non uniform day to raise money for DBAF. We are always astounded by the organised efforts of our community’s young adults, their hard work and generosity is truly wonderful to see. What made this even more special was that Daniel Barnett, the namesake of our charity, was once a pupil at Clifton. Thank you to all the staff and pupils who participated and donated, it means the world.

We have also launched our Come Dine With Me event which is running until Monday 9th October. The idea is to invite friends round for dinner instead of eating out and donate what you would have spent to DBAF. The pictures we’ve received from dinner parties held so far look amazing! Thank you for taking part and for those of you who haven’t yet, why not organise a get together with friends for a good cause? Don’t forget to send us your pictures!

On Sunday 24th September from lunch time onwards we will be shaking buckets at Hagglers Corner, Hagglers Fair on Queens Road in Sheffield. There will be arts and crafts stalls, music and delicious grub available in the cafe bar, why not come along? The lovely crew at Hagglers Corner are generously donating free hot drinks and cake for two as a prize on our Facebook page until Wednesday 20th September. All you need to do is like our page and share the post, why not have a go?

The tickets for our Charity Psychic Night are now sold out but if you didn’t manage to get tickets for this event, worry not. We will be announcing upcoming events very soon.

Thank you as always for your continued support, keep spreading the word of who we are and what we do. It really does help!

To all our lovely followers, enjoy these beautiful first autumn days and take care.
